Abstract

Hanna Buczyńska-Garwicz claims that Richard Rorty wants to get rid of the notion of truth. Moreover, she thinks that Rorty’s attitude to the problem of truth is connected with his claim that there is no world beyond language. The author of the article tries to prove that Buczyńska-Garewicz's description of Rorty’s philosophy is very inaccurate. All Rorty wants is just to convince us that philosophy has nothing interesting to say about truth and world and that we should try to stop using words “truth” and “true” in some contexts. He has never said that there is no world beyond language and that the notion of truth should be completely abandoned in our everyday life
