Abstract

This volume introduces A level students ot the major developments in sociology. It provides an overview of the classical and contemporary periods, exploring how sociology itself has changed in response to a changing world. This work focuses on established and new theories and topics in a manageable format, introducing A level and undergraduate students to sociology, cultural studies and other related subjects. Issues discussed include: classical and second wave sociological theory; the social structure of late modern society; cultural globalization; cultural identity; globalization and new social movements; social policy; and sociology and other disciplines.
