Abstract
/// The universe is contemplated by Aquinas from an aesthetic-theological prism: as the work of the hands of God, the finality of creation is the irradiation of His glory and the communication of His goodness toward creatures. The universe, therefore, is beautiful and perfect, due to its being a reflection of the pulchritude and the perfections of the Creator. As the Divinae Pulchritudinis imago, the human being is particularly attuned to all forms of beauty? sensitive, spiritual and supernatural?, as well as to the pleasure derived from its contemplation, which constitutes a powerful stimulus in the search for God, starting from created realities. In the thomistic perspective, aesthetic pleasure is the pleasure of the will in seeing the cognoscitive faculty in the full accomplishment of its finality, which is contemplation. Therefore, this article seeks, from the thomistic viewpoint, to attribute the role of the pleasure that comes from the admirative contemplation of created beauty to the moral perfectioning of the human being and the possibility of establishing a connection between this operation and the theological virtues of faith, hope and charity."
