The Impact of Authoritarian Leadership on Ethical Voice: A Moderated Mediation Model of Felt Uncertainty and Leader Benevolence.Yuyan Zheng, Les Graham, Jiing-Lih Farh & Xu Huang - 2019 - Journal of Business Ethics 170 (1):133-146.
In a sample of 522 police officers and staff in an English police force, we investigated the role of authoritarian leadership in reducing the levels of employee ethical voice. Drawing upon uncertainty management theory, we found that authoritarian leadership was negatively related to employee ethical voice through increased levels of felt uncertainty, when the effects of a motivational-based mechanism suggested by previous studies were controlled. In addition, we found that the negative relationship between authoritarian leadership and employee ethical voice via (...)

A Review of Research on the Neurocognition for Timbre Perception. [REVIEW]Yuyan Wei, Lin Gan & Xiangdong Huang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
As one of the basic elements in acoustic events, timbre influences the brain collectively with other factors such as pitch and loudness. Research on timbre perception involve interdisciplinary fields, including physical acoustics, auditory psychology, neurocognitive science and music theory, etc. From the perspectives of psychology and physiology, this article summarizes the features and functions of timbre perception as well as their correlation, among which the multi-dimensional scaling modeling methods to define timbre are the focus; the neurocognition and perception of timbre (...)

Mothers’ Experience of Social Change and Individualistic Parenting Goals Over Two Generations in Urban China.Qinglin Bian, Yuyan Chen, Patricia M. Greenfield & Qinyi Yuan - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
During the past four decades, China has gone through rapid urbanization and modernization. As people adapt to dramatic sociodemographic shifts from rural communities to urban centers and as economic level rises, individualistic cultural values in China have increased. Meanwhile, parent and child behavior in early childhood has also evolved accordingly to match a more individualistic society. This mixed-method study investigated how social change in China may have impacted parenting goals and child development in middle childhood, as seen through the eyes (...)

Anonymous Authentication and Key Agreement Scheme Combining the Group Key for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks.Mei Sun, Yuyan Guo, Dongbing Zhang & MingMing Jiang - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-13.
Vehicular ad hoc network is a multihop mobile wireless communication network that can realize many vehicle-related applications through multitop communication. In the open wireless communication environment, security and privacy protection are important contents of VANET research. The most basic method of VANET privacy protection is anonymous authentication. Even through, there are many existing schemes to provide anonymous authentication for VANETs. Many existing schemes suffer from high computational cost by using bilinear pairing operation or need the assistance of the trust authorities (...)

Emotional State and Feedback-Related Negativity Induced by Positive, Negative, and Combined Reinforcement.Shuyuan Xu, Yuyan Sun, Min Huang, Yanhong Huang, Jing Han, Xuemei Tang & Wei Ren - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12:647263.
Reinforcement learning relies on the reward prediction error (RPE) signals conveyed by the midbrain dopamine system. Previous studies showed that dopamine plays an important role in both positive and negative reinforcement. However, whether various reinforcement processes will induce distinct learning signals is still unclear. In a probabilistic learning task, we examined RPE signals in different reinforcement types using an electrophysiology index, namely, the feedback-related negativity (FRN). Ninety-four participants were randomly assigned into four groups: base (no money incentive), positive reinforcement (presentation (...)

Factor Structure and Measurement Invariance of the Brief Symptom Inventory-18 Among Chinese Adults.Yangwen Geng, Xiaoli Ni, Yuping Wang, Jinming Fan, Yuyan Qian & Xiaoran Li - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
This study aimed to investigate the factor structure and measurement invariance of the Brief Symptom Inventory-18 among Chinese adults. A sample comprising 1,839 adults from four cities in Shaanxi province completed the BSI-18 and background information. The best-fitting factor structure model of the BSI-18 was verified by confirmatory factor analyses, and multigroup confirmatory factor analyses were performed to test the measurement invariance. The results indicated that the three-factor bi-factor model fitted the current data best. The configural, metric, scalar, and strict (...)

Prediction of Freezing of Gait in Parkinson’s Disease Using a Random Forest Model Based on an Orthogonal Experimental Design: A Pilot Study.Zhonelue Chen, Gen Li, Chao Gao, Yuyan Tan, Jun Liu, Jin Zhao, Yun Ling, Xiaoliu Yu, Kang Ren & Shengdi Chen - 2021 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 15.
PurposeThe purpose of this study was to introduce an orthogonal experimental design to improve the efficiency of building and optimizing models for freezing of gait prediction.MethodsA random forest model was developed to predict FOG by using acceleration signals and angular velocity signals to recognize possible precursor signs of FOG. An OED was introduced to optimize the feature extraction parameters.ResultsThe main effects and interaction among the feature extraction hyperparameters were analyzed. The false-positive rate, hit rate, and mean prediction time were 27%, (...)

    Metaphorical Language in the Zhuangzi.C. M. Morrow - 2016 - Philosophy Compass 11 (4):179-188.
Chapter 27 of the ancient Chinese text the Zhuangzi describes three kinds of language: yuyan, zhiyan, and chongyan. Wang Fuzhi first coined the term ‘sanyan ’ or ‘tripartite-language’ to emphasize their overlapping characteristics and incorporate them into a cohesive approach to the text. Sanyan has been used consistently in interpreting the Zhuangzi since the earliest compilation of its extant version and continues to inform academic publications today. Based on descriptions found in the Zhuangzi's ‘miscellaneous chapters’ and on contemporary scholarship, (...)

    The Shu Zhuang School.Liu Xiaogan - 1992 - Contemporary Chinese Thought 23 (2):7-48.
Among all the post-Zhuang Zi schools of Zhuang Zi philosophy, the Shu Zhuang school was the school of most direct descent. Its works included the twelve "chapters": "Qiushui", "Zhi le", "Da sheng", "Shan mu", "Tian Zifang," "Zhi beiyou," "Geng Sang Chu," "Xu wugui," "Ze yang," "Wai wu", "Yuyan", and "Lie Yukou." From the intellectual content and linguistic style of these essays, the works of the Shu Zhuang school appear to belong to a chronologically earlier category of the outer and (...)
