The revitalization of Indigenous ways of knowing and being with land is central to addressing the devastating impacts of climate change. This article contributes to growing research in Indigenous Climate Change Studies by focusing on connections between ecology, sexuality, and gender. To track the histories of gendered violence for Two Spirit peoples is to also follow the marked wounds of land dispossession, excavation, and exploitation. Conversely, Two Spirit futures are deeply imbricated in not only surviving but also flourishing among post-apocalyptic (...) conditions. Through socio-linguistic analyses of western animacy hierarchies and a historical analysis of colonial fables which casted the racialized-gendered other as monstrous, this article critiques popularized end-of-the-world discourses on climate change narratives. Alternatively, the article concludes by offering a reading of Indigiqueer speculative science fiction, gleaning methods of not only survival and resistance but also resilience amongst post-apocalyptic conditions. Ultimately, this paper argues that the revitalization of Indigenous genders is in-part linked to the present revitalization and protection of ecological life-worlds, centering Two Spirit knowledge at what settlers may fear to be “the end of the world.”. Trans of Color inclusion is not simply a gesture of affectionate commitment to María Lugones's theory of impure communities. Rather, it is required for the enactment of her liberatory theory within and across communities of color. While María Lugones's historico-theoretical analysis of the colonial/modern gender system relies upon anthropological citations of Native gender and sexual diversity, she argues that we must bracket gender for the benefit of [cis]women of color feminisms. However, if this bracketing does not first carefully uncover cisgender (...) histories of violence, then this decolonial feminist praxis reinscribes the invisibility of transphobia, racism, and colonialism's violent intersections, performing another mode of erasure and silence on Trans, Two-Spirit, and Nonbinary Native, Black, and Latinx peoples. In placing Lugones's texts into conversation with the voices of Two-Spirit and Trans of Color theorists, I argue that the mutilation of trans flesh makes possible the integration of [cis]People of Color into the gender–sex binary even if as failures. More important, this essay offers the beginnings of a phenomenological account of Trans World-Traveling, where the unruliness of Two-Spirit and Trans of Color bodies cocoons decolonial worlds from within the spiraling folds of abject flesh—always already in infra-communication with ancestral pasts, presents, and futures. Organizations are faced with the challenge of responding to increasing pressures to promote diversity in various ways. We draw attention to one possible proactive organizational response—the incorporation of diversity in organizational identity. This initial response necessarily evokes subsequent tasks of managing the changed identity. Therefore, this article also addresses the management of diversity identity within organizations, and relevant organizational outcomes. Our theoretical model is grounded in institutional theory, and we propose that the management of diversity identity can impact both perceptions (...) of legitimacy as well as diversity identity. Adequate, inadequate, and optimal management of diversity identity have differential effects on legitimacy and diversity identity. We contribute to the literature by a) unbundling initial and later firm responses to promoting diversity at the organizational level, and b) offering a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of managing diversity identity within organizations. He shows that the most important goal of Marquard's philosophy was to establish a pluralism in hermeneutics. Increasing farmers’ acceptance and adoption of environmentally beneficial farming practices is essential for mitigating negative impacts of agriculture. To support adoption through policy, it is necessary to understand which types of farms or farmers do or do not apply such practices. However, farmers are not a homogeneous group and their behavior is subject to a complex array of structural, socioeconomic, and socio-psychological influences. Reducing this complexity, farmer typologies or archetypes are useful tools for understanding differing motivations for the uptake of (...) sustainable farming practices. Previous investigations of the role of farmer archetypes in the adoption of such practices rely on either purely qualitative or purely quantitative methods in data collection, typology creation, and hypothesis testing. Our study combines both approaches by classifying survey respondents into farmer types based on a previous Q methodological study. We then use these types in a two-part regression model that aims to explain participation in agri-environmental schemes and the level of scheme participation. To control for farm structural factors, we additionally link our questionnaire data to secondary data from the farm accountancy data network. Results indicate that in Austria, AES are attractive to all types of farmers, but the level of participation in these schemes differs between archetypes: Profitability-oriented farmers participate less, and nature-oriented farmers participate more than other types. This suggests that monetary compensations for sustainable farming practices are not perceived as sufficient by certain groups of farmers, and policy makers need to consider additional kinds of incentives. An der Frage, wie diese Bedeutung genauer zu beschreiben sei, scheiden sich jedoch die Geister. Dieser Umstand spiegelt sich in den höchst unterschiedlichen Bezugnahmen auf die Theologie des Reformators in der Theologie seit der Aufklärung. Während die einen die lutherische Reformation in einen engen Zusammenhang mit Autonomie und Neuzeit rücken, betonen andere die Differenz zwischen Luther und der modernen Welt. An dieser Ambivalenz (...) in der Beurteilung Luthers wird bereits deutlich, dass die Bedeutung des Wittenberger Reformators die Kategorie der Wirkungsgeschichte in gewisser Weise sprengt. Geschichte und Kultur des Protestantismus lassen sich zu einem guten Teil als Geschichte der Rezeption von Luthers Denken auffassen. Diese Einsicht bildet den Leitgedanken des vorliegenden Bandes. This book provides an overview of Martin Luther's (1483-1546) state thinking whose reformation of faith and church provoked important and controversial consequences concerning the understanding of the political order and power. Luther's main work in this field "Von weltlicher Obrigkeit" is imprinted completely in a modern translation. The analysis of his state thinking in the contemporary context of the 16th century is followed by a systematic interpretation as well as a historical sketch. In the different areas "Luther and Machiavelli", "Resistance" (...) and "Natural law" the contributors develop connections and comparisons to other concepts. ZusammenfassungDie Frage nach dem Glück des Menschen ist nicht eben ein Hauptgegenstand evangelischer Ethik; diese hat vielmehr überwiegend die Glücksthematik ausgeblendet. Gegenläufig zu diesem immer noch maßgeblichen common sense sucht der Artikel nach der Möglichkeit einer Rehabilitierung der Glücksfrage auf dem Boden der reformatorischen Theologie, namentlich in Anknüpfung an Luthers Rechtfertigungslehre. Er zeigt, dass die von Luther vollzogene konsequente Ablösung der weltlichen Ethik vom Bedürfnis des Menschen nach Heilsgewissheit durchaus als Grundlage einer Ethik gelingenden irdisch-menschlichen Lebens fungieren kann: Weil sich (...) der Mensch durch keine Art der irdischen Lebensführung das Heil verdienen kann, fällt das säkulare Ethos in die Kompetenz humaner Vernunft und deren Interesse am Menschendienlichen – eine Konstellation, die an Aristoteles' Ethik erinnert. Die mit dieser Überlegung anvisierte evangelische Glücksethik ermöglicht einerseits eine konstruktiv-kritische Auseinandersetzung mit säkularen Glücksvorstellungen lebensweltlicher, populärwissenschaftlicher oder wissenschaftlicher Art. Andererseits zielt sie darauf, die Rechtfertigungslehre als Theorie gelingenden Lebens zu interpretieren und damit die Aktualität des Kernstücks lutherischer Theologie an einem gegenwärtig relevanten Thema zu erweisen.SummaryHuman happiness is not really the main topic of Protestant ethics. It was and is rather typical for Protestant ethics to block out this topic. Contrary to this still valid common sense the article wants to rehabilitate the question of happiness based on the insights of reformatory theology, namely with reference to Luther's doctrine of justification. It shows that Luther's complete separation of secular ethics from the human need for certainty of salvation can actually function as a basis for an ethics of happy human life: Because people cannot earn salvation by their own moral merits, the secular ethics has to be ruled by human reason and its interest to enable a life worth living – a situation which reminds of the Aristotelian approach to ethics. A Protestant ethics of happiness, seen through these eyes, makes it possible to examine and to criticise secular ideas of happiness, be it popular, popular scientific or scientific. On the other hand it aims to interpret the doctrine of justification as a theory of happy human life. So the importance of this core of Lutheran theology can be proved by using a topic which today is highly relevant. (shrink)

The scores of studies on virtue do not yet constitute a mature science of virtue because of unresolved theoretical and methods challenges. In this article, we addressed those challenges by clarifying how virtue research relates to prosocial behavior, positive psychology, and personality psychology and does not run afoul of the fact–value distinction. The volume contains ten historical theological studies tracing the significance of Luther for Protestant religious culture (mainly in the German-speaking world) since the Reformation. The approach taken is one of the history of reception: selected positions in modern Protestantism are identified as different forms of reception of Luther's theology. In the background is the view that at present a productive systematic theological approach to Luther's theology primarily requires a detailed consideration of a new Protestant religious culture.
