    Corporate Social Performance and Firm Risk: A Meta-Analytic Review.Marc Orlitzky & John D. Benjamin - 2001 - Business and Society 40 (4):369-396.
Building on earlier work on the relationship between corporate social performance (CSP) and a firm’s financial performance, this integrative empirical study supports the theoretical argument that the higher a firm’s CSP the lower its financial risk. Specifically, the relationship between CSP and risk appears to be one of reciprocal causality, because prior CSP is negatively related to subsequent financial risk, and prior financial risk is negatively related to subsequent CSP. Additionally, CSP is more strongly correlated with measures of market risk (...)

Shadow of the other: intersubjectivity and gender in psychoanalysis.Jessica Benjamin - 1997 - New York: Routledge.
Shadow of the Other is a discussion of how the individual has two sorts of relationships with an "other"--other individuals. The first regards the other as a s work apart is her brilliant utilization of a systematic dialectical approach to her subject, always maintaining the delicate balance between opposing tensions: masculinity and femininity, subjectivity and objectivity, passivity and activity, love and aggression, fantasy and reality, modernism and postmodernism, the intrapsychic and the intersubjective. Benjamin s work apart is her brilliant utilization (...)

Encouraging the nascent cognitive neuroscience of repression.C. Anderson Michael & J. Levy Benjamin - 2006 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 29 (5):511-513.
Repression has remained controversial for nearly a century on account of the lack of well-controlled evidence validating it. Here we argue that the conceptual and methodological tools now exist for a rigorous scientific examination of repression, and that a nascent cognitive neuroscience of repression is emerging. We review progress in this area and highlight important questions for this field to address.

    Genes for Human Personality Traits.Jonathan Benjamin - 1998 - Science in Context 11 (3-4):357-372.
The ArgumentThis article considers three major problems with the concept of genes for human personality traits: uncertainty about what human personality is; what we mean when we say there is a gene “for” a mental attribute; and the complexity of interactions between genes and environment, and among the genes themselves. It then draws on examples from empirical human genetic studies by the author and his colleagues in order to suggest that the concept of genes for human personality traits nevertheless does (...)

This is a matter of considerable importance to me, but you might imagine that it is difficult to read an analysis of events in which I was so involved that takes so little account of my/our point of view. Let me add, (...)

The Narratives of Financial Law.Joanna Benjamin - 2010 - Oxford Journal of Legal Studies 30 (4):787-814.
The recent financial crisis has revealed not only market failure and regulatory failure, but also failure of the narratives that inform the rules of financial law. The term ‘narrative’ is used to mean the deep structures of assumption which inform legal rules, but which are not always fully articulated in them, and which are most fully articulated in the case law. This article identifies three such narratives, namely the arm’s length, fiduciary and consumerist narratives. It finds that they are both (...)
