Missing Analyst Forecasts and Corporate Fraud: Evidence from China.Liuyang Ren, Xi Zhong & Liangyong Wan - 2022 - Journal of Business Ethics 181 (1):171-194.
The relationship between analysts' forecasts and corporate fraud is a vital theoretical and practical question that needs to be clarified. Based on a strict distinction between negative performance gaps relative to analyst forecasts (negative forecast gaps hereinafter) and analyst coverage, this study investigates the influence of analyst forecasts on corporate fraud from a panoramic perspective. Using panel data on listed companies in China from 2008 to 2019, we find that short-term performance pressure caused by negative forecast gaps is significantly positively (...)

Fairness and Smiling Mediate the Effects of Openness on Perceived Fairness: Beside Perceived Intention.Zhifang He, Jianping Liu, Zhiming Rao & Lili Wan - 2018 - Frontiers in Psychology 9:292131.
Previous studies have shown that smiling, fairness, intention and the results being openness to the proposer can influence the responses in ultimatum games respectively. But it is not clear that how the four factors might interact with each other in twos or in threes or in fours. This study examined the way that how the four factors work in resource distribution games by testing the differences between average rejection rates in different treatments. Two hundred and twenty healthy volunteers participated in (...)

Investigation of a Progressive Relaxation Training Intervention on Precompetition Anxiety and Sports Performance Among Collegiate Student Athletes.Dongmei Liang, Shuqing Chen, Wenting Zhang, Kai Xu, Yuting Li, Donghao Li, Huiying Cheng, Junwei Xiao, Liyi Wan & Chengyi Liu - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
This study aims to investigate whether simple and convenient progressive relaxation training is effective in enhancing collegiate student athletes’ mental health and sports performance. An experimental group of 14 and a control group of 10 collegiate student athletes were recruited from among track and field athletes who were preparing for provincial competition. The experimental group was exposed to a PRT intervention in 30-min sessions conducted twice per week for a duration of one month. At baseline, the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2, (...)

Communication Network for Sports Activity Monitoring Systems.Yuhua Li, Lishuang Wan & Haimin Zhang - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-10.
In this paper, through research and analysis of the communication network of the physical activity monitoring system, we combine wearable technology and identification technology and design a physical health monitoring bracelet that integrates multifaceted physical data collection and effective identity matching function. We match the identity through the chip and collect the physical fitness data generated in the process of exercise and centralized test by the sensor in real-time. Finally, the data transmission is realized through the WIFI communication function to (...)

The Effect of Vocabulary Depth and Breadth on English Listening Comprehension Can Depend on How Comprehension Is Measured.Yuzhi Luo, Hongwen Song, Li Wan & Xiaochu Zhang - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
This study examines the relative contribution of vocabulary breadth and vocabulary depth to three different listening comprehension measures. One hundred and thirteen English majors were given VB and VD tests, and three listening comprehension tests. Based on three pairs of hierarchical multiple regression analyses, we found that the relative contribution of VB and VD varied across the three listening comprehension tests. Specifically, for the listening test with an expository text dictation to assess integrative skills, both VB and VD made a (...)

Do academic CEOs influence corporate social irresponsibility? The moderating effects of negative attainment discrepancy and slack resources.Liuyang Ren, Xi Zhong & Liangyong Wan - 2023 - Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility 32 (3):946-960.
Academic experience has been found to significantly impact on the attitudes and behaviors of managerial decision-makers, which in turn influences corporate strategic decisions. However, the impact of academic decision-makers on corporate ethical decisions, particularly corporate social irresponsibility (CSIR), has yet to receive due attention to date. In this study, we integrate the upper echelons theory and managerial discretion literature to examine whether and when academic CEOs (CEOs with academic experience) influence corporate social irresponsibility (CSIR). First, we suggest that academic CEOs (...)

The two faces of FBW7 in cancer drug resistance.Zhiwei Wang, Hidefumi Fukushima, Daming Gao, Hiroyuki Inuzuka, Lixin Wan, Alan W. Lau, Pengda Liu & Wenyi Wei - 2011 - Bioessays 33 (11):851-859.
Chemotherapy is an important therapeutic approach for cancer treatment. However, drug resistance is an obstacle that often impairs the successful use of chemotherapies. Therefore, overcoming drug resistance would lead to better therapeutic outcomes for cancer patients. Recently, studies by our own and other groups have demonstrated that there is an intimate correlation between the loss of the F‐box and WD repeat domain‐containing 7 (FBW7) tumor suppressor and the incurring drug resistance. While loss of FBW7 sensitizes cancer cells to certain drugs, (...)

Evaluating Cortical Alterations in Patients With Chronic Back Pain Using Neuroimaging Techniques: Recent Advances and Perspectives.Li Zhang, Lili Zhou, Qiaoyue Ren, Tahmineh Mokhtari, Li Wan, Xiaolin Zhou & Li Hu - 2019 - Frontiers in Psychology 10.
Chronic back pain (CBP) is a leading cause of disability and results in considerable socio-economic burdens worldwide. Although CBP patients are commonly diagnosed and treated with a focus on the ‘end organ dysfunction’ (i.e., peripheral nerve injuries or diseases), the evaluation of CBP remains flawed and problematic with great challenges. Given that the peripheral nerve injuries or diseases are insufficient to define the etiology of CBP in some cases, the evaluation of alterations in the central nervous system becomes particularly necessary (...)
